You're In The Right Place

AS A MEDICAL DOCTOR WHO SPECIALISES IN GENERAL AND OLDER PERSONS MEDICINE. I HAVE SPENT SEVERAL YEARS LEARNING ALTERNATIVE, HOLISTIC APPROACHES TO HEALTH

Chronic illnesses are by their very nature, incurable. This means they are conditions that are to be lived with. As a medical doctor, I started to question how well I was able to support my patients with these conditions. After much thought, I knew that I needed to do more.

Yoga Therapy is about putting You at the centre of your life and your illness. And giving you back some of the power to move through and create change, if and when this feels right for you.

How Would It Feel To...

  • Learn how to feel at home in your physical body again?

  • Be able to undertake cardiovascular exercise in a safe way, that is adapted to your body?

  • Manage your digestion without more medications?

  • Improve your balance and reduce your risk of falls?

  • Feel empowered to make change in your life because You want to?

  • Learn techniques to help support you during periods of anxiety & uncertainty?

  • Manage the symptoms of menopause and perimenopause without medications?

  • Know what to do when you are struggling to sleep?

  • Attend a session guided by how you are feeling on that day?

The Old Way is to Manage Chronic Illness with Medications Only.

THE OLD METHODS DON'T ENCOURAGE SUSTAINABLE HABITS.

Modern medicine is amazing. It has saved countless lives and transformed society. But it has also created a society where we are prioritising medications over changes in the way in which we live our lives. After all, most chronic illnesses today, are as a direct result of the way in which we are living our lives. And crucially, I believe modern healthcare disempowers the individual to make positive change.

THE NEW METHODS WORK BECAUSE THEY CENTRE ON YOU.

YOUR LIVED EXPERIENCE AND UNIQUE SYMPTOMS.

Yoga Therapy is a therapy that works from the outside in. Using movement, breathwork, restorative techniques and personal inquiry. It provides the space to work with the whole person and the opportunity to get to the root cause. It is slow and transformative. And it offers a completely different way to support individuals living with chronic illness.

Yoga is recommended by NICE for:

The National Institute of Clinical Excellence provide the guidelines that are followed by the NHS

  • The management of High Blood Pressure

  • The management of chronic primary pain

  • The management of sciatica

  • The management of lower back pain

  • For mental wellbeing at work

  • MS-related fatigue

  • Pelvic Floor Dysfunction

Despite this, Yoga Therapy is not freely available on the NHS

And there is more and more evidence to support the use of Yoga in many more conditions.

  • I found the sessions with Yasmin constructive. She was excellent at tailoring the sessions.

    Farah

  • I use the techniques that I have learnt to relax in stressful situations and to help getting to sleep.

    Gillian

  • “The session have re-inspired my connection to my body and the power of simple intentional actions.

Benefits of Yoga Therapy

The field of Integrative Medicine recognises Yoga Therapy as a modality that can be used in combination with conventional medicine for the management of many conditions.

Yoga Therapy takes the tools and philosophy of yoga and applies it in one to one or small group sessions to the individual. Yoga therapy uses a model similar to the biopsychsocial spiritual model to offer person centred therapy. It encompasses biology, physiology, and psychology with movement, breathing techniques, and guided meditation and/or relaxation to help individuals feel able to take charge of their own health and self-care. And because it is person centred, it can be used with anybody and any body. Truly accessible and welcoming of all.

Hi, I’m Yasmin Bedi

A MEDICAL DOCTOR AND YOGA THERAPIST WHO BELIEVES IN PERSON CENTRED CARE.

I have 14 years experience training and working in the NHS. I am dual accredited in general internal medicine and older persons medicine. I started formally practising yoga in 2011 and became a teacher in 2018, before embarking on my journey to become a yoga therapist in 2021. I am accredited by the International Association of Yoga Therapists.

I WORK WITH INDIVIDUALS COMMITTED TO
TRYING A DIFFERENT APPROACH TO WELLNESS.

Everyone is unique with a rich tapestry of lived experience, wishes and beliefs. I work with you to co-create sessions that honour how you are at that moment and hopefully nourish you in whatever way that is needed. In healthcare, we are always talking about scientific evidence and research. But yoga therapy is such a unique therapy with so many variables and the ability to work on so many levels that I feel the term practise based evidence feels more appropriate.

Let’s Work Together

Online Only

If yoga therapy sounds like the thing that you have been looking for, then I am super excited for you! If you want to talk about it in more detail or have questions. Then go ahead and click the button to book your free consultation. Alternatively, feel free to email in the first instance.

Yoga Therapy is not a quick fix. It takes time to work its alchemy. Therefore, I cannot tell you how many sessions you will require. In many cases, people continue as a longer term “maintenance” whilst also doing their own home practice.

The first session is always free. This is a 60 minute intake which allows me to better understand you and your needs and it is an opportunity to see whether you would like to continue to work with me. Through the intake I am in a better place to understand how I can best serve you and how to move forward. I do not offer any practises or tools during this first session, unless we have discussed this in advance.

Please note, I do offer discounts for block booking sessions in advance.

The next best step is to book your free connection call to get the ball rolling!
