Caring for a loved one with dementia is an act of profound compassion — but it can also be emotionally exhausting and isolating. Research reflects this reality: NICE guidelines in the UK highlight that carers of people with dementia need emotional and psychological support, social connection, physical strengthening strategies, and access to rest and breaks. The Alzheimer's Society notes that carers frequently experience severe stress, uncertainty, isolation, anxiety, depression, exhaustion, and loss of identity. Evidence-based dementia care confirms that carers need both practical knowledge and emotional confidence — yet these needs are rarely centred.
Many carers silently carry feelings of guilt, grief, and deep fatigue while giving endlessly to others with little time to restore themselves. So how can yoga therapy offer a meaningful, dignified, and accessible path forward?
This gentle yet empowering course is designed specifically for family members and carers of people living with dementia. Rather than focusing on how to "manage", it prioritises your own wellbeing, while also offering simple yoga therapy practices to bring ease, connection, and harmony into daily care routines.
Each 2-hour session combines theoretical insight, guided practice, and reflective discussion. You'll explore how yoga therapy principles and tools can support nervous-system regulation, compassionate communication, and emotional resilience in caregiving.
This training includes:
6 hours of live presentations
Access to the full recording after the sessions
Supporting written materials
Email access to experienced C-IAYT teachers for topic-related questions
A Certificate of Attendance with 6 Yoga Alliance CE points
Nervous-system tools for moments of overwhelm: practical breath and grounding techniques you can use in real time
Compassionate communication and redirection strategies rooted in yoga therapy principles
Gentle movement and touch-based exercises that foster connection and trust
Ways to process emotional fatigue, grief, and identity shifts without shame
Energy-preserving strategies for sustainable care and self-recovery
